Short after the sun went down, I was already out trudging on the street. A small ice box filled with cans of cola and soda on one hand, and a fishing rod on the other. My hands were busy and my mind wandered, my eyes just enjoyed the vast field of stars above my head.

The shops and offices already closed their doors, replaced by the food stalls on the front. The street’s been ready to began another festive night, it soon would be full with chatter till dawn.

A small bakery with warm minimalist mood stood on the side of the street. Contrasting the old vintage buildings on the blocks. The bakery has been open not long before I moved here. The breads were different from the others, it was not dense like the old type of bread which I found here but also not too fluffy. Just like a country bumpkin who go back to his hometown after spending years in the city. Modernized but still holding old values.

Cring. The bell attached to the door rang as I open the door.

“Oh you come at the right time! The last batch just came out of the oven” The baker herself greeted as the bell rang, she was the baker and the owner. Charming woman with friendly smile, one of the first acquaintance I made after I got back here. Which was because I ran to her bakery every two days after I discovered this place after long bread pilgrimage around the town.

“Luck it is. I’ll get a sourdough, butter biscuits, and small box of garlic bread”.

“Okay. Quite much for late night snack don’t you think?”

“I haven’t had dinner and moreover it all won’t even last past midnight”. I put my box and fishing rod at the cashier counter.

“Oh you are going fishing? Night fishing by boat? Must be fun. Here you go” She pointed at my fishing rod and gave my bag of breads.

“No, just at the beach. Thank you and by the way please try the orange pie recipe, I’m sure it gonna be amazing.”

“Oh okayy. Looks like I need to pick up my game because my regular is starting to be demanding hahah. Don’t worry you’ll be the first costumer to taste it if I ever made one. Bye, have lovely night!”

I picked up my stuff and waved her bye. Cring.
